( Resource ) - Confessions of a Workaholic

Starting in June 2005, I think I bought — hook, line and sinker — the same visions of grandeur that you might have when it comes to starting and operating an online business:

That it somehow, in a very short time, is a business that will run on its own, even when I’m intentionally trying to work banker’s hours.

While it didn’t take me long to shake myself away from the fantasy that selling products and services 100% online would magically increase my income while screwing around on the beach, or sleeping in a hammock somewhere, I still latched onto a related (and probably more sinister) belief:

That the only way to grow a successful online business is for me to do everything myself.

But, after an initial 12 months of 16-18 hour days, 7 days a week, I realized if I was to continue that, I’d be setting the foundation of my own “working prison.”
