( Resource ) - Confessions of a Workaholic
Starting in June 2005, I think I bought — hook, line and sinker — the same visions of grandeur that you might have when it comes to starting and operating an online business:
That it somehow, in a very short time, is a business that will run on its own, even when I’m intentionally trying to work banker’s hours.
While it didn’t take me long to shake myself away from the fantasy that selling products and services 100% online would magically increase my income while screwing around on the beach, or sleeping in a hammock somewhere, I still latched onto a related (and probably more sinister) belief:
That the only way to grow a successful online business is for me to do everything myself.
But, after an initial 12 months of 16-18 hour days, 7 days a week, I realized if I was to continue that, I’d be setting the foundation of my own “working prison.”
= = = = = = =
That’s when Jody Sachse and I joined forces full time (sometime around July 2006). Jody does tech stuff. I do marketing and JV stuff.
But, we still found ourselves chained to our computers. If I was mainly focused on marketing activity, and Jody on tech integration and customer support, who was doing the content creation and management?
Well, us, until Heather was integrated into the team. Now, she’s LWL’s lead interviewer, content manager, email editor and writer.
A three-person tripod that supports the foundation of our company’s growth by keeping any one person from having permanently-etched dark circles under their eyes.
But, still, when you own, operate and manage an ever-growing network of websites, like we do, it still takes more than the 3-person partnership team to make it all work together.
What I oftentimes find, when talking to our colleagues, JV partners and online marketing brethren, is that their ambition and ideas outpace and outnumber their resources and manpower.
It’s what we had to wrestle with until recently.
We’ve taken our first steps into outsourcing non-revenue-generating, but still essential, roles (i.e., marketing assistance, web development, graphic creation, etc.).
But, we couldn’t have make our first successful contract hire, and understood the imperative “been-there-done-that” strategies, without listening to Dan Lok’s latest 2-Hour Audio Course Outsource & Delegate.
It is, bar none, the most content-rich, least costly “how to outsource right” course available today.
We love it, listen to it often and, in fact, as we listened to Dan explain our business problems to the “tee”, it was almost downright creepy! It’s like he had been there, privately watching us struggle with being over-worked every day.
Of course, the reason Dan understood our struggles is because he was once in our shoes. Once a burned-out, workaholic Internet Marketer like we were, Dan is now a multi-millionaire who only works 30-40 hours a week and takes all his nights and weekends off.
He’s only been able to achieve this lifestyle because he has mastered the art of Outsourcing and Delegating virtually ALL of the “ticky-tacky” work that he used to HATE having to do himself.
If you’re a full-time online marketer, this is a no-brainer $50 investment. It will exponentially show you how to expand, and duplicate, yourself so you can continue to grow you business year after year.
If you’re a part-time online marketer, this is essential knowledge, if you don’t want to end up creating a time-consuming, life-sucking monster.
Bottonline Insight / Tip: in order to grow your online profits at an exponential rate in the shortest amount of time, you MUST create a team of hard-working, skilled people who you can trust to perform the day-to-day tasks that you don’t want to do.
In fact, chances are good that you’ll find people to do the tasks you’re doing now… and they’ll do it better than you do… and for less money than you would pay yourself to do it!
