“What have you noticed when taking ____?”

People often ask the question, “How does drinking this supplement make you feel?” or “What health benefits have you noticed from taking it?”

Well… if you ate a piece of fruit, which is undeniably highly nutritious, and then we asked you what health benefits you felt from eating it, wouldn’t you think we were a little crazy?

If you took a Vitamin C pill and a Vitamin E pill daily, and we asked how it was affecting your health, would you be able to give a definitive objective answer?

If you were to say something like, “Well, last winter I had two colds and this year I haven’t had any,” could we specifically attribute that to the Vitamin C (or perhaps it might be because your mindset and beliefs have also changed, or because you’ve eaten healthier foods than last year)?

Can we ever say one thing consumed specifically affects us in a certain, undeniable way?

Treating our bodies well, and consuming supplements, vitamins and minerals that promote health and ongoing maintenance of our systems, doesn’t usually come with specific “feelings” or “noticing” what’s different… does it?

Heather has been taking prenatal vitamins for 6 months, and hasn’t noticed a difference in her health at all.  Doctors highly recommend prenatal vitamins to all pregnant women, and the brand she’s taking promises to be “the most comprehensive prenatal liquid supplement ever developed, scientifically designed to provide optimal nutritional support during pregnancy…. fast-acting and easily digested, [it's] fortified with all essential vitamins and 8 essential minerals, plus the vital energy of nature’s premier whole foods, including apple, broccoli, spinach, tomato, brown rice, apricot and banana - so every daily serving supplies natural energy and nutritional strength.”

Sounds great, doesn’t it?

But would we expect her to get a surge of energy after downing an ounce?

Maybe some people actually do feel that effect, because every body is different.  But for Heather, it’s just about the satisfaction that she’s supplying herself and the baby with the nutritional benefits they both need, whether she can actually feel or notice it working or not.

And if she wasn’t taking them… who knows how she would feel at this point, six months pregnant, or how healthy she and the baby would be?

It’s about preventive maintenance, and optimization, NOT corrective measures.

How can we ever validate what specifically we put in our bodies has what specific effect - since every day we consume any number of things?

So looking for results that others have subjectively “noticed” is probably not the best measuring stick to use.

Of course for any health-related supplement, food, beverage, botanical, vitamin or mineral, there are people who say it increased their energy, fixed up aches and pains, helped them sleep better, etc… but, in all honesty, how do we REALLY know it was from that one thing alone?

In a scientific study, we need to have a “control”… that means we need to compare something that never changes to whatever we have changed.

To really check the effects of one thing ingested, we would need someone to eat the exact same foods at the exact same times every day for a month (or however long our study is), and record measurable, objective things about their health (like heart rate, blood pressure, sleep patterns, etc.) rather than relying on them to describe subjectively how they feel.

Then they would have to eat the exact same things at the exact same times for another month, but this time add the supplement, vitamin, mineral, etc. that we wanted to test, and record the same measurable, objective things to see if there was a change.

Obviously not too many people would do this… so it’s next to impossible to get a scientific study of what kind of impact one thing is going to have on our health.

You can say, “Well, I didn’t change anything about my diet except taking this thing.”  But really, how do you know that picking up a different type of egg, or a different brand of cereal or orange juice, or some steaks that were on sale, didn’t have an effect on you, too?

Now, obviously, people that are in good health and good shape to begin with probably never notice results as dramatic as those who are “broken” or “sick”, even in our hypothetical highly-controlled experiment.

So the best guinea pigs are going to be those that have a specific complaint, and want to see if one change will affect that one issue.

Does that mean the rest of us should stay away from nutritionally beneficial products, just because we won’t “notice” or “feel” results in the same way?

Absolutely not!

If you feel results from taking something, great!  If not, you’re probably giving yourself a great maintenance (rather than necessarily corrective) formulation anyhow that, over time, likely brings better health (whether specifically noticeable or not).

A product like Zrii does have the potential to make people feel healthier with noticeable results.  We know people who claim that their long-standing aches and pains have disappeared since drinking Zrii, or that they sleep much better now.

Also, their FAQ page says:

“One may notice that drinking Zrii before food allows them to feel the unique effects of the botanicals more quickly. This is because the drink enters the bloodstream more rapidly when consumed on an empty stomach.

When consuming Zrii with food, the active components will be digested along with it, driving them deeper into the tissues through the digestive process. In either scenario, the body will receive the nutritional benefits of the active ingredients. For individuals experiencing more deeply rooted or longstanding imbalances of the body, taking Zrii with food may assist the delivery process more effectively.”

So yes, some people may actually feel effects from drinking it.  Others may not, but “the body will receive the nutritional benefits of the active ingredients” anyhow.

Does it really matter either way?

I disagree, respectfully!

If you are eating high nutrient foods, and take care of yourself with exercise and add something like Zrii, I believe you would notice spectacular results.

Like reversal of certain symptoms such as fatique, low immune response etc.

I dare say you would feel real rejuvenation after drinking Zrii.

Naturally, these sorts of testimonials get people into trouble and maybe that’s why you hesitate to make them.

Or maybe you honestly haven’t felt the effects of the drink.

In any case, I think it’s ok to share stories of how you feel better and want to share it with others so they feel better, too!!

It’s all good!!

Heather Vale @ 2:07 pm:

Hi Kate,

Certainly it’s OK to share stories of how you “FEEL” after taking something… if you do noticeably FEEL something…

But EXPECTING it to bring immediate “spectacular results” is a little naive, in my opinion.

Personally, I have NEVER “felt” “spectacular results” from taking or doing anything. No supplements, no vitamins, no drinks, no foods, no nothing. My body is pretty much in tune, and even when I was battling digestive issues, it still ran like a fairly well-oiled clock with no discernible differences in my overall “feeling”, no matter what I put in it.

You told me you used to distribute Cell Tech, and were excited to tell everyone how it made you feel, but that it was a “hard sell”… that’s probably because most people are not interested in how something makes YOU, subjectively, “FEEL”.

That’s not to say that YOU wouldn’t feel what you might label “spectacular results” from drinking Zrii; that’s not to say that YOU wouldn’t feel immediately “rejuvenated”. But again, every BODY is different, and immediate effects are not necessarily the norm, nor should they be expected.

Otherwise, anyone who drank Zrii (or my prenatal vitamins) and didn’t feel an immediate surge of energy, or “spectacular results”, would say, “well, this is crap! It sure doesn’t work!” and stop taking it.

You, as a women’s health nurse, surely recognize how disastrous it could be if I stopped taking my prenatal vitamins just because I didn’t FEEL anything from taking them… right?

So I think focusing on immediate results (just like manifesting something and expecting it to show up right away, without realizing that everything — not just babies — have a gestation period) is doing a disservice to whatever the topic at hand is.

The “buffer of time” we talk about during the manifestation process is certainly valid when it comes to putting things in your body, too.

Long-term health benefits help people manifest better, live better, and enjoy life more. Whether or not they felt (or thought they felt) something at the point of consumption is irrelevant.

When I manifest something, sometimes it shows up right away, sometimes the next week, sometimes months or even years later.

It happens when it’s meant to.

And “it’s all good”, as you say.

Just like drinking a supplement like Zrii will affect everyone’s body as it’s meant to. Maybe immediately, maybe over a few days or weeks (like the people we referred to in this post), and maybe not for months or years.

So what?

That shouldn’t stop someone from sharing the product, the opportunity, and the entire inspirational story and culture of Zrii if they choose to.

It’s not about “magic pills” (or “magic drinks”)…

It’s about ongoing health and prosperity.

cheers
Heather

Barry & Heather

The question that I asked what has it done for you? I left it open ended for a reason and your forwarded email needs no clairification. Thank you.

I do understand, we are all different. Our lifestyles, may or may not have an impact on our health.

I didn’t mean to be misleading in the way I appraoched the product. I got what I wanted, an unbaised answer.

When I was a kid I watched as my family suffered from various health issues. In its own way that was a blessing. For the most part I’ve had an active lifestyle in that I exersize and take suppliments on a fairly regular basis.

Has all the weight training, swimming, bike ridding, martial arts, walking, hiking along with other forms of physical movement had an impact on my overall health? I would say yes. I can say with quite a bit of certainty that I’m in better shape than most men my age and even some who are younger. By the way I am 50.

Can I speciffically endorse any of the things I’ve done, no, no way. Has it incresed my awareness of how my body feels and performs, you bet it has.

To me things like energy drinks are a waste of money. Gee could it be the ingredients or the placebo affect that make that product so popular? It was a great idea though.

They do nothing for my energy, although I admit I do love the way they taste, so on rare occasions I indulge. I was never one to follow labled directions when it comes to vitamins either. I adjust accordingly depending on my activities.

For instance if I am doing a heavy training session I up the frequency of vitamins. I also drink a lot more water and get more recouprative rest. I could go on, lol.

Thanks again for your answer.
Thomas
